Andy is a member of our trade mark team dealing with a wide range of work including devising filing strategies, prosecution of applications, opposition, revocation and invalidity actions in the UK, at the EUIPO and at WIPO (for international Madrid Protocol registrations). Andy is also authorised to act before the Irish Patents Office in relation to trade mark matters.
His clients are in a wide range of industry sectors including biotechnology, telecommunications, consumer products, electronics & electronic engineering (with a particular interest in wearable technology products), food & beverage, computer software, Medtech, pharmaceutical, retail and transport.
Recognised in the Legal 500 (2016) researchers comment: “Andy King, who was promoted to partner in April 2016, is ‘incredibly reliable’ and has particular interest in wearable technology products.” Andy has once again been recognised in the 2017 edition of the Legal 500. He is described as ‘very reliable and forward thinking‘.
Andy has a degree in sociology from the University of Sheffield and the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing.
Andy worked for 10 years in the marketing industry in a range of roles for blue-chip, multinational companies, before moving to an advertising and design agency to work on branding projects and advertising campaigns.
He is a member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and INTA. Andy regularly attends INTA Annual Meetings as well as the MARQUES Annual Conference.
He has spent several months on secondment to a US law firm.
Andy joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2008. He qualified as a UK Registered and European Trade Mark Attorney in 2011. Authorised representative at EUIPO 2011. Andy joined the partnership in 2016. Authorised to act before the Irish Patents Office in 2016.
