Maria Hall

Maria is the firm’s Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer and a member of the Management Board. She is responsible for all marketing and business development at the firm which is a key area of focus and has a dedicated team of nine. She also manages our internal communications, social intranet and our sports and social group MewbFun with a strong focus on building the firm's culture. 

Maria is our ESG Lead and is passionate about how Mewburn Ellis can make a difference for it's people, community and the world at large. As part of this she manages our charitable giving which will reach over £800,000 in donations so far this year through the Forward Community Programme Fund.

Maria has personally signed up to the IP Inclusive Senior Leader's Pledge and is commited to making sure that equality and diversity are celebrated at Mewburn Ellis and that we have a firm that has diversity of thought, ideas and viewpoints. She has been a key driver in the development of our approach to menopause, championing the topic and helping implement a policy, training, collaboration group, promotions and resources across the firm. She also writes and speaks on the topic externally. Maria is also active in the Women of Mewburn Ellis Network (woMEn), working to help women at the firm be the best they can be.

Maria was previously Group Marketing Director at an international IP firm and before that Marketing Director for a top 30 full service European law firm. Other roles have included Head of Marketing at the world’s largest IP services provider and Account Director for a full service marketing agency. 

Maria studied Literature at the University of Essex and has been working in marketing and business development for over 25 years. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and joined Mewburn Ellis in 2017.

Maria has been recognised as a WIPR Diversity 2023 ‘Change Driver’ – a new category which recognises and celebrates the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work undertaken—and often sparked—by members of the business services teams in IP firms and companies.
