Paul handles patent work in our chemistry & materials team mainly in the industrial chemistry, nanotech and pharmaceutical sectors.

Paul’s work is primarily focussed on patent drafting, prosecution, oppositions and appeals before the EPO. Paul is also a member of our design team.
Paul has a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, 2006. His final year research project involved applying semiconductor lasers to gas-phase spectroscopy.
He has a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, 2010. His PhD research focussed on developing and applying single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy methods to the study of protein organisation in living cell membranes. Research projects included an examination of membrane proteins associated with the adaptive immune system, sperm membrane structure, protein aggregation in amyloid-like diseases, and the arrangement of nuclear proteins in yeast.
Paul joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2010, qualifying as both a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2014.
