Roger has over 25 years’ experience in the trade mark profession. He is highly skilled in all aspects of trade mark work under the UK, EUTM and Madrid Protocol systems in particular and has vast experience of handling worldwide trade mark portfolios. He has particular expertise in clearance searching, oppositions, invalidity actions, revocations, multi-jurisdictional disputes and in negotiating complex settlements. He regularly handles oppositions before the UKIPO and EUIPO and has taken proceedings to the General Court. He also has experience in resolving domain name issues before Nominet and WIPO.
His work spans a vast array of industry sectors but he has particular experience in the entertainment . biotechnology, consumer products, energy, food & beverage, industrial chemistry, computer software, pharmaceutical and transport sectors. He has a specific interest and extensive experience in the retail sector.

Roger has a degree in law from Manchester Metropolitan University.
He is a regular attendee at INTA and business visitor to the US. Roger is a Member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and of INTA.
Roger joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 1988. He qualified as a Registered Trade Mark Agent in 1993 and is a Representative authorised to act before EUIPO. Before joining Mewburn Ellis LLP Roger worked as a trade mark examiner in the UK Patent Office. He joined the partnership in 1999.
