Susan (Susie) handles life sciences patent work in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

She has particular experience in:

  • protein and nucleic acid-based therapeutics and diagnostics
  • genetic analysis technologies
  • antibiotics
  • pharmaceutical agonists and antagonists
  • cell-cycle control

She deals mainly with prosecution before the EPO, but also has experience of opposition and appeal work.

Her clients include UK and US universities, technology transfer organisations, specialist chemical companies and biotechnology companies.

Susan has a degree in biochemistry from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Susan joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2001 after training in the patent department of an international pharmaceutical company in Switzerland from 1986 to 1990, followed by working in London for a large firm of patent attorneys from 1990-1994. She qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 1991 and a European Patent Attorney in 1992.
