Renesas to supply chips for Toyota's autonomous vehicles

10 November 2017

Our client Renesas Electronics Corporation, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, has been selected to supply Toyota with chips to power autonomous vehicles.

Renesas’ autonomous-driving vehicle solution combines the R-Car system-on-chip, which will serve as an “electronic brain”  for in-vehicle infotainment and advanced driver-assistance systems, with a RH850 microcontroller for automotive control. This combination delivers a comprehensive semiconductor solution that covers peripheral recognition, driving judgements, and body control.

Toyota’s self-driving vehicles are scheduled for commercial launch in 2020. Automakers are currently racing to be the first to market with a commercially viable self-driving vehicle.
