UK to trigger Article 50 on 29 March 2017
On 29 March 2017, the UK will notify the European Council under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty of its intention to withdraw from the EU, triggering what is likely to be a prolonged period of negotiation. Until withdrawal has taken effect the UK will remain a full member of the EU. This means existing EU IP rights continue unaffected, even during the Article 50 negotiation period.
We would like to reassure our clients, colleagues and friends that Mewburn Ellis’s full range of European intellectual property services will continue uninterrupted both during the Article 50 negotiation period and after the UK has left the EU.
