IP Attorneys & Law Firms

At Mewburn Ellis our work for IP attorneys and law firms forms a core part of our business. We have excellent, long-standing relationships with many attorneys from all over the world.

Every year, hundreds of overseas IP attorneys rely on us to obtain IP protection for their clients in the UK and across Europe. We file and prosecute patent, trade mark and design applications as well as handling all contentious and transactional IP matters.

A top European IP firm

We are one of Europe’s top IP firms, but we believe in taking a personal approach to business. You can trust us to tailor our counsel to match your needs. We understand the necessity of taking into account an applicant’s cost and outcome expectations. Whilst we prefer to be highly proactive and provide a full analysis of cases, we are also happy simply to act on your instructions with minimal input.

We are aware that our clients have the opportunity to choose their European attorneys from many countries across Europe, and so our fees are structured accordingly to ensure that we are competitive.  Transparency in our fee structure is important to us, and we are always happy to discuss our fees openly with clients or potential clients.

European patent training course

We are committed to nurturing our relationships with overseas IP attorneys. It is one of the reasons why, for the past 30 years, we have been running a training course for patent attorneys from Japan and other Asian countries. Our highly regarded two-week course provides an in-depth study of the legal and practical aspects of working with the EPC and EPO. It is also a showcase, allowing our attorneys to demonstrate their genuine academic and practical interest in IP law.

Attending international IP conferences

All our attorneys are committed to staying fully up-to-date with current IP issues. Many regularly attend international IP conferences including: BIO, AIPPI, AIPLA, INTA and APAA. International travel is not restricted to conference visits; we also appreciate the benefits of doing business face-to-face and visit overseas clients whenever required.

When you engage the services of Mewburn Ellis you are working with a firm at the heart of European IP. Our partners and attorneys are actively involved in various patent and design committees of CIPA (the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys) and trade mark committees/working groups of CITMA (Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys) and INTA (International Trademark Association). Some of our partners are also active in FICPI including membership on FICPI committees.
