Mewburn Ellis donate £20,000 to Jonathan's Voice

As part of our community programme our inclusion and diversity collaboration group have once again chosen to support Jonathan’s Voice, a charity dedicated to supporting mental health specifically focusing on the IP sector, with a £20,000 donation.

The charity was founded 6 years ago in memory of Jonathan McCartney, a successful patent attorney, who tragically took his own life at the age of 35. Jonathan’s Voice aims to increase awareness of the need to protect mental health, reduce stigma, understand suicide risk, empower individuals to speak about their mental health and give individuals confidence in responding.

This year our donation will continue to fund the development of new workplace resources, deliver webinars and in-person training, support better understanding of suicide and other essential work. The charity has also just embarked on a new initiative to provide an ‘on demand’ section of their website, featuring video and audio recordings on various mental health and well-being topics which will be free to access. These initiatives are led by the charity’s mental health consultant alongside other experienced mental health trainers and supported by a dedicated group of trustees and an Advisory Board.

“Since 2018, we have been working with the IP profession to improve mental wellbeing in the workplace so that all may thrive. The support from Mewburn Ellis will allow us to expand our activities with confidence and work with firms to embed mental health and wellbeing as a key priority”

Dr David McCartney, Chair of the Trustees of Jonathan’s Voice

“It is integral that all individuals know they can speak about their mental health and know they have the support from their workplace. Partnering with a charity like Jonathan’s Voice once again, continues to help us at Mewburn Ellis to promote awareness of this important topic and help us do everything we can to ensure that no one feels alone in the workplace”
