Ben Boyd is experienced in patent drafting, prosecution, opposition, and freedom to operate work, primarily in mechanical engineering fields such as renewable energy, marine engineering, mining, aerospace and consumer goods. He also regularly handles design filings and advises on design infringement and validity issues.

Background
Ben has a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Melbourne. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Queensland.
Ben started his career at a large top-tier Australian IP firm in 2012, qualifying as an Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney in 2014. He then joined Mewburn Ellis in 2018, qualifying as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2021 and a European Patent Attorney in 2022.
