Daniel is a member of our life sciences patent team specialising in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. He is involved with all stages of the patent application process and has experience of drafting and prosecuting applications in the UK and at the European Patent Office. He also carries out opposition and opinion work.

Background
Daniel has a Master’s degree in chemistry and a DPhil in biochemistry from the University of Oxford. For his Master’s project, he studied the synthesis and conformational properties of extended molecular switches. During his DPhil, he investigated antimicrobial peptides and proteins, using a variety of established and novel biophysical techniques and models.
He also spent time at Harvard Medical School as a postdoctoral researcher, looking into biologically-active and chemically-modified peptides. He joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2017, qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2021 and qualified as a UK Patent Attorney in 2023.
