Ed handles patent work across the life sciences/biotech field, with a particular focus on antibody therapeutics, cell therapy and vaccines. Outside of the medical sphere he also has extensive experience in enzyme technology and microbiology. Ed is very experienced in drafting patent applications and prosecuting them around the world, and also handles opposition and appeal work at the European Patent Office.

Ed’s clients are mainly based in the USA and Europe, and vary from small start-ups, through universities and research institutes to multinational pharmaceutical companies.
Background
Ed has a degree in biochemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in molecular microbiology from Imperial College London. His PhD research focussed on putative virulence factors in Clostridium difficile.
Ed qualified as a European and Chartered Patent Attorney in 2021, and joined Mewburn Ellis in 2022.
