Maria is the firm’s Chief Commercial Officer and a member of the Management Board. She helps drive the overall commercial strategy and revenue generation for the firm and oversees our marketing, and business development efforts, aligning them with our business strategy. Maria is also heavily involved in the Forward Community Programme at the firm and is the ESG Lead.
She was previously Group Marketing Director at an international IP firm and before that Marketing Director for a full service European law firm. Other roles have included Head of Marketing at the world’s largest IP services provider and Account Director for a full service marketing agency.
She is also responsible for internal communications and culture and is our ESG Lead, managing our business practices and performance around sustainability and ethical issues. She is passionate about how Mewburn Ellis can make a difference for its people, community and the world at large. Maria looks after our charitable giving too, which has now topped £800,000 in donations though the Forward Community Programme Fund.
Maria has personally signed up to the IP Inclusive Senior Leader's Pledge and is committed to making sure that equality and diversity are celebrated at Mewburn Ellis and that we have a firm that has diversity of thought, ideas and viewpoints.
She has been a key driver in the development of our approach to menopause, championing the topic and helping implement a policy, training, collaboration group, promotions and resources across the firm. She also writes and speaks on the topic externally. Maria is also active in the Women of Mewburn Ellis Network (woMEn), working to help women at the firm be the best they can be.
Maria has been recognised as a WIPR Diversity 2023 ‘Change Driver’ – a new category which recognises and celebrates the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work undertaken—and often sparked—by members of the business services teams in IP firms and companies.

Maria studied Literature at the University of Essex and has been working in marketing and business development for over 25 years. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and joined Mewburn Ellis in 2017
