Joe is an associate and a member of our trade mark team. He has experience in a wide variety of matters at all stages of the trade mark life cycle, including searching and clearance, trade mark prosecution and dealing with inherent registrability objections, managing contentious matters, and overseeing the strategic management of global trade mark portfolios.

He frequently handles trade mark oppositions before the UKIPO and is highly skilled in preparing evidence and negotiating settlement agreements. He works for a diverse range of clients across various industries, with a particular focus on pubs, restaurants, and snack food brands.

Background

Joe has an LLB Law degree from the University of Manchester and LLM in Professional Legal Practice from the University of Law, which encompassed the Legal Practice Course. At both undergraduate and postgraduate level, he completed modules on Intellectual Property law, which focussed on trade mark law and practice.

Joe joined Mewburn Ellis in 2019 and qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2022.
