Associate, European Patent Attorney
Heather is a member of our electronics, computing & physics, and engineering patent team. She has experience in all stages of the patent application and prosecution process in the UK and Europe, as well as handling worldwide patent prosecution and providing advice to clients regarding their freedom to operate. She also has experience handling registered and unregistered design matters.
Heather handles patent work in a wide range of engineering fields, with particular experience in textile manufacturing for sportswear and other sectors, consumer products, and structural engineering. In addition her work covers oil field services, nano materials and computer software systems. She works with clients ranging from individual inventors to large multi-national companies, including British universities. Her expertise includes:
She has a MEng. in engineering science and materials science from the University of Oxford. Research projects focused on nano-conductance and optical switches. She also has a MSc in Management of Intellectual Property from Queen Mary, University of London.
Heather qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2018 and a European Patent Attorney in 2013.
Before joining Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2018, she trained with a highly regarded London based firm and then worked in-house for a time before returning to a smaller IP firm in London, where she gained further in-house insight during a consulting secondment.
