Sarah is a member of our chemistry & materials patent team, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical, industrial chemistry and nanotech sectors.
Her technical expertise encompasses:
Sarah works with both domestic and international clients chiefly in the pharmaceutical and nanotech sectors, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing large patent portfolios, and opposing and defending patents at the EPO.
She also provides lectures on IP for a number of UK universities as part of their undergraduate courses.
Sarah is recognised in the 2017 edition of The Legal 500. One client describes her as ‘efficient and reliable‘. She is also ranked in the Managing Intellectual Property: IP Stars 2018 as a rising star.
Sarah has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Southampton. Her PhD focused on the total synthesis of natural products using radical-based approaches. She has considerable synthetic chemistry research experience, including two years postdoctoral research and a research placement in a pharmaceutical process chemistry team.
From August 2015 to June 2016 Sarah was seconded two days per week to a global fast-moving consumer goods company, assisting their in-house intellectual property department.
Sarah joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2011, qualifying as both a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2015. She joined the partnership in 2019.
