The role

This role is part of the Finance Team, reporting to the Financial Controller (FC), the role will play a pivotal role in transforming our billing processes. This is a strategic position requiring a hands-on leader capable of creating the new vision and direction for billing operations.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing a centralised function that not only aligns with our overall business objectives but also delivers improved accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in invoicing. Your role will initially involve leading this project by recommending and implementing the new way of working, and subsequently leading the new function as designed by you.

This position will require a deep understanding of Work In Progress (WIP) and billing in a professional services environment, ideally within a law or intellectual property firm, combined with the ability to navigate the complexities of transitioning to a centralised model. You will also act as a change agent, guiding the firm through this transition, ensuring alignment across departments, and communicating the benefits and objectives to the firm.

Your success will be measured by how effectively you establish a cohesive billing function that drives operational excellence while maintaining up-to-date and well-managed work in progress (WIP) balances.

About you

You will have proven experience as a Billing Manager, preferably within a law firm, intellectual property firm, or similar professional services environment. With an ability to demonstrate strong leadership and team management experience with a track record of building and developing high performing teams. Excellent communication skills will be critical to this role, and you will be able to engage and influence the Partnership and senior management in the Firm. You will be proactive in your approach and be solutions-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve issues swiftly.
