We are recruiting for a CIPA qualified Patent Paralegal to join our award-winning IP Support Services function which sits at the heart of our firm. This is a great opportunity to join one of Europe’s top specialist Intellectual Property firms. The role can be based in any of our UK offices, Bristol, Cambridge, London or Manchester.

The role

Our Paralegal roles are vital to our business, helping to optimise the levels of service we provide to our diverse client base. 

You will have autonomy in the role and work directly with clients, you will manage your own client portfolio and have full responsibility for all associated workflow and deadlines. Your understanding of the client needs will enable you to influence how we work the client. As direct point of contact you’ll develop long-lasting, quality relationships that add value to the client service experience. You will need to be highly proactive and confident in your communication, coordinating activity between the client, the attorney and the relevant IPO. Mewburn Paralegals are fee earners, and you will be responsible for your time and billable hours. 

The role will be at the forefront of change in the IP Support Team and provides an opportunity to make a difference to an expanding and progressive IP Firm and to support the ongoing development of others within the wider team.

About you

You will be CIPA qualified and have worked at a similar level role, with direct client contact, in patent firm. You will have the knowledge and confidence to provide procedural advice to clients. You will have sound working knowledge of IP procedures in International, National, and European Jurisdictions, specifically you will have experience in European prosecutions.  

You will understand the importance of clear and concise communication, building trust and delivering results in a focused and professional manner. 

You will be confident, self-motivated and have excellent planning and organisation skills. You will be flexible and adaptable, and able to switch between competing priorities when required. Excellent attention to detail is essential for this role. 

As part of the wider IPSS team you will be comfortable to make decisions and delegate work as appropriate and support others to achieve the firm wide goals.
