John is a member of our electronics, computing & physics, and engineering patent teams, working primarily in the fields of telecoms, medical devices, computer software, optics, engineering, and electronics. John has experience in prosecuting patent applications in technical fields that include:
John graduated with a Master’s degree in Physics from University College London (UCL), before completing an MSc in Composite Materials at Imperial College London. After working for a couple of years, John went on to complete a PhD in Physics at the University of Cambridge. John’s final year Master’s project at UCL was concerned with investigating the magnetic and electrical conductive properties of graphene-intercalated with rare-earth metals at low temperatures. His MSc project was focussed on developing electrically conductive bioceramic composites for prospective bone-tissue repair. His industry funded PhD project spanned subject matter from physics, biochemistry, and food science and technology.
John joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in late 2018 having completed the post-graduate certificate (PGCert) in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary (University of London), whilst working as a trainee patent attorney at another London firm. Outside of work, John is a keen footballer, has a passion for cooking, and enjoys travelling, particularly to other European cities and the Mediterranean.
