Mewburn Ellis achieves significant carbon footprint milestone

Intellectual property firm Mewburn Ellis has achieved a ‘B’ score for climate management by SMEs from CDP, the Carbon Disclosure Project, the highest score achievable for an SME in 2024 marking a significant improvement from the firm’s ‘C’ score last year. This advancement highlights the ongoing work by the firm’s Sustainability Collaboration Group to achieve net-zero by 2050.

CDP is a global environmental disclosure system that enables companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage, and share vital environmental information. It is the gold standard for corporate environmental reporting, a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. It also supports organisations to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape by bringing together all the major global reporting frameworks and supporting them on their path to compliance.
The data disclosed by Mewburn Ellis in recent years contributes to a growing inventory of self-reported environmental data which is used to help drive action through greater transparency.

The firm joins over 25,000 other small and medium-sized enterprises in pushing ahead on the road towards a sustainable future. The data submitted by all is used to influence key stakeholders and decision makers across industries.

This forms part of the firm’s award-winning sustainability programme, having recently become the world’s first IP firm to be awarded an EcoVadis Platinum medal, positioning Mewburn Ellis among the top 1% of all companies rated worldwide. The firm also has its near and long-term emission reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative and has joined the UN Global Compact initiative, both of which are collaborative initiatives with the CDP.
